Description
The concrete slump test is one of the most widely used and essential quality control methods in the construction and civil engineering industries. At Capco, we offer a complete Slump Test Set that includes a cone, rod, funnel, base, and rule—everything needed to perform accurate and efficient slump testing on fresh concrete. Designed for reliability, durability, and ease of use, this kit is ideal for site and laboratory use where quick, accurate concrete consistency checks are required.
Concrete Slump Cone Test
The concrete slump test is a simple yet highly effective method to measure the workability or fluidity of fresh concrete before it sets. It provides an immediate indication of whether a particular concrete mix is within the designed water-cement ratio range, which affects strength, durability, and ease of placement.
This test involves filling a conical mould (slump cone) with freshly mixed concrete, compacting it in layers using a steel rod, and then lifting the cone vertically to observe how much the concrete “slumps” or settles. The resulting measurement indicates the concrete’s workability: the higher the slump, the more workable the mix.
Capco’s Concrete Slump Test Set is precision-engineered to meet the standards outlined by BS EN 12350-2 and ASTM C143, ensuring consistency and accuracy every time. Whether you’re working in the lab or on a job site, this set is essential for concrete quality control.
Components of the Capco Slump Test Set
Our complete Slump Test Set includes the following:
-
Slump Cone (Abrams Cone): Manufactured from high-grade, corrosion-resistant metal for durability and longevity.
-
Tamping Rod: Steel rod with hemispherical ends to allow uniform compaction of the concrete layers.
-
Base Plate: Flat, sturdy base to support the cone and prevent distortion during testing.
-
Funnel: Assists in easy, clean pouring of the concrete into the cone without spillage.
-
Steel Rule: For accurate measurement of slump value after cone removal.
Each component is designed for ease of handling, repeatability of results, and long service life in even the most demanding environments.
Concrete workability can be measured using the Slump test. This is carried out by filling the Slump Cone with fresh concrete in three layers, tamping each one and levelling to the top of the cone. The Slump Cone is then removed and the distance the concrete falls or “Slump” is measured with a rule.
